Field Experience Description

My Coaching experience has been done while serving in the ReGeneration Discipleship and Recovery Ministry at LakePointe Church, Rockwall, TX.
My experience has been acquired from several different areas...
1) being a ReGen Step Group Leader for 3 years;
2. serving as a Mentor/Coach for 37 different ladies over the course of 6 years;
3) serving as a Women's Leaders Coach for 45 women leaders over 4.5 years. I'm still serving in this ministry as a Women's Leaders Coach.
Here are more specific details about the experience I gained in these 3 areas:
1) As a ReGen Step Group Leader, my responsibilities included leading a Group of 12-15 women weekly through the 12 Steps, reviewing homework, facilitating conversations & asking questions in a Group discussion format; assisting the participants in their individual journeys through prayer and scripture as needed; and training and equipping 1-2 new co-leaders per Group. Served 138+ hrs
2) Over the past 6 years I have served as an individual Mentor/Coach for 37 ladies, as each one went through the 12 steps. It takes approximately 1 year for an individual to complete ReGen, which consists of 6-12 weeks in Ground Works and 11 months doing the Steps. My responsibilities included meeting with each lady individually (in-person or over the phone) consistently throughout the year as she works through the 12 Steps. My role is to offer support, accountability, guidance, & help her set personal goals, all of which is saturated with a lot of encouragement and prayer throughout the process. Based on individual circumstances, I met with each of these 37 ladies individually, as few as 4 times per person (once a quarter) and up to as many as 27 times (2-3 times per month) during each of their 1 year journey through ReGen. Some individuals were best suited to meet bi-weekly or once a month. Mentored/Coached 285+ hrs
3) Much of my coaching experience has come from serving as a ReGen Women's Coach for the Women's Leaders for the past 4.5 years. This role has included serving as a Coach for 45 individual women who are leading Step Groups. My responsibilities include: assisting leaders with their schedule; overseeing their team planning-meetings; training & equipping leaders for their Group at Kick-off and at the INVENTORY Step; leading the Groups when needed; assisting Groups through the Plan of Salvation during Step 3; being available for personal meetings with individual leaders; leader's meetings; phone coaching & guidance calls; and coaching/advisory meetings with leaders and participants as needed. All of these listed "spaces" are for support, encouragement, assistance and equipping of the women leaders as they serve and lead groups. Coached Leaders 95+ hrs

My responsibilities also include open communication & meetings with the ReGen Director and/or Co-Director.

Overall coaching & mentoring conversations have included topics such as: goal setting; conflict resolution; personal dynamics strategies; spiritual growth & insight; self-worth & identity in Christ; personal disciplines; team leadership strategies; marital & parental processing; occupational & financial strategies.

Instructions

Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions.

Who is Jesus Christ to you?

Jesus is my Savior and my Redeemer! HE is my rock and my salvation! HE is the HOLY Son of God, part of the Trinity, The Word, Who took on the form of man, being born of a virgin. HE came and lived among us that we may have life, through Him, and have it more abundantly! Jesus gave His life at Calvary to pay for the sins of mankind, so that all who repent of their sins and acknowledge Him by accepting and receiving HIS perfect gift of salvation, can spent eternity with Him & God the Father. Jesus is the Lamb of God, Who was slain before the foundation of the earth, Who conquered death and the grave and rose again in 3 days. HE dwells with Yahweh and the Holy Spirit in Heaven and HE is coming again soon for His Bride, the church. He is the Lion Of Judah, the King Of Kings, the Alpha and the Omega. HE is my shield and protector in the storms of life, HE gives me courage when things gets hard, HE is a radiant light of truth and hope and HE is my source of inner peace and joy! HE was, HE is and HE is to come!

How does a person become Christian?

Anyone who confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, will be saved. Romans 10:9

...for "WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." Romans 10:13

Describe your beliefs about the Bible:

The Holy Bible is the holy, inerrant, inspired, infallible Word of God, given to mankind so that we may know Him and all His promises.

Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd part of the Trinity. HE was sent by God to dwell within Christ's followers (believers) after Jesus was crucified, buried, resurrected and had ascended back to Heaven. His Name is the Comforter. HE has 7 spirits according to Isaiah 11: 1, and Revelation 1:4 ... The Spirit of the LORD, the spirit of Wisdom, the spirit of Understanding, the spirit of Counsel, the spirit of Strength, the spirit of Knowledge and the spirit of the Fear of the LORD. A new believer receives the Holy Spirit upon their salvation, when they accept and receive Jesus as their personal LORD and Savior. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to equip and empower believers to live righteously and victoriously, so they can share the hope of Jesus with others. By relying on the Holy Spirit, a Christian can walk in wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ:

I asked Jesus into my heart and to save me, as an 11 year old girl, in Birmingham, AL. My parents were not Christians nor did they attend church. For a short period of time, my grandmother (my Dad's mother) lived with our family temporarily and she attended a nearby Baptist church. I started going to church with her and during this time, I heard the message of Jesus. I went forward at an alter call and I prayed to receive Him as my personal Lord & Savior and I asked to be baptized. That same week, my mother scheduled a meeting with the church's Pastor because she thought I was too young to be doing this. However, after a conversation with the pastor and my mother, the pastor confirmed to my mom that I understood what I was doing and that I had become a Christian. Shortly after I was baptized. Then, in soon following conversations, I lead both of my sisters to the LORD. Both of them are in full-time Christian ministry today.

I continued to go to church and grow and walk with the LORD. In my middle school years I helped instigate and lead a "Morning Watch" time of prayer and praise, on Friday mornings before school. During High School I was involved at my church, in YoungLife and another Campus outreach ministry and also served in a Girl's Agape Club at my school. During this time in my life, Hebrews 11:1-3, 6 became my life verses. Now faith is the assurance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen....

My walk with the LORD kept me on the straight and narrow! HE protected me from many of the struggles that teens and young adults encounter. I continued in my walk with the LORD during college, where I was actively involved in a local church; participated in several campus ministries; was Chaplain in my Sorority; and spent a summer on mission in Buffalo, NY. I have many cherished memories.

So as not to recant every phase of my life, I can honestly say that my relationship with the LORD has been a significant factor throughout my life, since being saved at 11 years old. I have had numerous opportunities to serve the LORD through a local church body, to serve on mission trips, participate in Bible Studies, sing in choirs and ensembles, and I have been affiliated with some wonderful ministries along the way. I am blessed to have been married for 37 years to my husband Mike, and I'm the mother of 2 adult daughters, Rachel, who is 29 and Mandi, who is 27. Life doesn't always go as one would script and there have been some seasons of wear and tear. (which is normal) Marriage is a refining process, with bumps along the way. My mother & in-laws have passed. My dad remarried. Jobs have been lost. One of my daughters is serving Jesus with her life and one is not. While this situation has been heart-breaking, this journey has given me new capacity for understanding and empathy for others who have a child or loved one not walking with the LORD. Life is always changing and there are new lessons to be learned. And in the midst of everything...God is still good!

In the current season of my life, I am still ever dependent on Jesus, Who is always my source and my strength! I am actively involved in our church, LakePointe Church where I serve as the Care Coordinator for our Life Group, on an as-need basis. I sing with the (backup) choir, which is about once a month. I am currently co-leading a weekly Ladies Bible study. And I serve in the ReGeneration Discipleship and Recovery Ministry as a Women's Leaders Coach. I also volunteer once or twice a year at specific events for a ministry called Poiema, which fights against human trafficking. My life's verse is still Hebrews 11: 1 and 6... Now faith is the assurance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen. Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Another favorite verse is Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. About 1 year ago, I began my certification to become a Professional Christian Life Coach after a series of events that confirmed this was where the Lord was leading me. I am thankful to have this opportunity to serve Him and others in this season of my life.

Describe your Life Coaching practice/ministry and how you incorporate biblical principles, as well as spiritual practices and disciplines in your coaching activities (e.g., prayer, the use of Scripture, meditation, worship, solitude, etc.)

Presently, my Coaching practice and ministry comes in all shapes and sizes, primarily through relationships with ladies within the ReGeneration Discipleship and Recovery Ministry at my church.
My ministry consists of coaching and mentoring in several different categories of need and responsibilities within the confines of ReGen.
1) There are individual participants who are actively involved in a Step Group (which takes approx. a year to complete) where I have accepted the role upon their request as their Mentor/Coach. This role has variables based on the individual and what they are dealing with, but I rarely have a phone conversation or a face-to-face meeting that doesn't end with prayer. Once we have had a conversation or two and I'm somewhat apprised of "where" they're at and what they are hoping to accomplish, then I typically share scriptures of encouragement (often sent by text with a photo of nature). I usually ask questions to see 'if and how' they are seeking the LORD for themselves, in order to know how to challenge or encourage them. Depending on what an individual is wanting to attain or address, my conversations and questions are geared to assist them to recognize who they are in Jesus and to guide or challenge them to walk in His grace and to be the best version of themself that they can be. Each individual & encounter is unique, so there's not a 'one size fits all' template. I pray silently in each encounter and ask the Lord to give me wisdom, compassion, guidance and direction as I try to minister to someone.
2) My role as a Coach for the volunteer leaders who are facilitating/leading a Step Group (for a year) has several different components. My purpose is to assist these leaders in their role and to help equip them for effectiveness and for success. There are times I'm training them; there are times we are discussing how they can lead their Groups and how to share the leadership responsibilities. There are times I am coaching them on conflict resolution within the group dynamics. There are occasionally times when the leaders don't see eye-to-eye, and I try to help them see the strengths in each other and how to work through their differences. There are times leaders 'burn out'.
In any and all of these kind of situations, being able to look at a Biblical example or to have a scripture to refer to is paramount.

I am hoping to add to my Coaching practice moving forward with individuals who have completed ReGen and are wanting some further assistance as they continue in their personal growth and journey.

Whether coaching a participant, a graduate or a servant leader, prayer and scripture are key foundations in my conversations.
I know it is crucial that I stay in the Word myself and have a daily consistent time in prayer and solitude with the Lord, so that I am not operating out of 'self'. I am currently doing a devotional called Jesus Everyday by Mary DeMuth and am co-leading a Bible study on Revelation. I love to listen to a myriad of worship music and I have some plants that I tend to, because I see & feel God in nature!
