Instructions | Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions. |
Who is Jesus Christ to you? | Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Without Him I have no hope of salvation. He loved me first, redeemed me through His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross, His burial, and His bodily resurrection. He gives me hope and an eternal future. I love and follow Him. |
How does a person become Christian? | A personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation and no one is saved apart from a conscious and personal decision to trust in Christ as their one and only Savior. Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation and no one is saved apart from a conscious and personal decision to trust in Christ as the one and only Savior. (John 14:6 Acts 4:12) Man is justified by grace through faith apart from works. (Acts 13:38-39) |
Describe your beliefs about the Bible: | I believe that all sixty six books of the Bible originated from God. He revealed His words to mankind through human authors, using their unique personalities to reveal the truth about God and His activity in the world. I believe the message of the Bible is God's absolute, timeless truth about who God is. I believe scripture is useful for guidance and correction in all areas of life. I also believe the Bible provides the principles upon which God judges us and recounts the steps our loving God has taken to redeem fallen humanity. |
Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit: | I believe in The Trinity being one God in three persons. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. |
Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ: | I was raised attending church regularly and can't remember not knowing the importance of walking the righteous path. Growing up attending legalistic nondenominational churches, I was box checker at an early age. I don't know when I began to worry about going to hell. I don't remember not fearing it. I was baptized at the age of 10. Going home from church that evening, I remember thinking, "If I can die in a car crash before school tomorrow I will make it to heaven". Baptism had saved me and I just needed to be really good from here on out. My precious beautiful mother was the spiritual leader of my family. As a teenager I began to frustrate her with questions about salvation. I made her uncomfortable and she preferred me to not question just do what I was told. I married my first husband at 17. Both of us considered ourselves Christians. Looking back on my life I am not so sure. I do believe I inherited a faith and tried to follow it but not a personal relationship with God. We were married in Oklahoma. After college we moved to California and then to New Mexico. During that time I attended the same church affiliation but found differences. In California an elder of the church invited us over for dinner and served wine. That would have never happened in Oklahoma. They clapped and cheered after a baptism in New Mexico. In a church? I was stunned. I have two sons, David and Jonathan. I wanted to have a beautiful Christian unproblematic family. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. After 10 years of marriage my husband began drinking beer regularly and then problematically. I slowly eased little by little into a very restrictive environment of a functional alcoholic. At 31 we divorced. I remarried. My husband Stephen would tell you that we were unevenly yoked. I'm not so certain. I had my inherited faith but I knew very little. We began a struggle between my faith and his not having one. I couldn't defend my faith and was ready to give up altogether. I did not believe that I could be forgiven for the divorce. Honestly, I was hoping that if I "worked" hard enough I could somehow get into Heaven. I was tired. Stephen felt that this couldn't be true and we went on a mission to learn together. He made a New Year's Resolution to attend church every Sunday with me. We read the Bible, attended classes, listened to sermons online and prayed together. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on the side of the road coming home from work. I started feeling the LOVE that the Father has for me that I had never known. I accepted that I would never be good enough was never good enough. Jesus the perfect Lamb of God died for me knowing I was a sinner that would mess up. He knew I would. I understood GRACE. I started recognizing the Holy Spirit and His guidance. I get emotional thinking of those many years I spent working for my salvation not understanding that Jesus paid it all. I began an early walk with the Lord. I always wanted to be a child of God. I am so thankful that He never gave up on me. It was through my darkest days of feeling there was no hope for me that I was led to hope. That HOPE was in Jesus. I became an authentic Jesus following, Bible reading, daughter praying, and Holy Spirit listening Christian in my early 40's. I am now 59 and often disciple others that were raised in legalistic Protestant or in Catholic churches. Trying to be good enough made them tired and they gave up trying. Now in their 30's and 40's they are returning to church buildings with lots of baggage and not sure where they fit in. I have a heart for these people and I have an understanding that I would have never had without my journey to the foot of the cross. |
Describe your Life Coaching practice/ministry and how you incorporate biblical principles, as well as spiritual practices and disciplines in your coaching activities (e.g., prayer, the use of Scripture, meditation, worship, solitude, etc.) | My practice/ministry will be to provide coaching, discipleship, and training to those who look for change, encouragement, growth, and/or accountability. In my field practice I have found that most people fit into all of these areas and I'm sure more than I listed. I may be coaching someone who wants accountability in their life/profession and ends up getting a dose of encouragement along with a realization they want a change of some kind to their diet. Now we have a meal prep planning goal that neither of us saw coming! I use prayer, listen for guidance from the Holy Spirit, and share Biblical principles and truths. I keep myself in the Word. I stay connected to my local church and Bible studies. I read books from Christian authors. It is true that the Spirit brings to the forefront of my mind something that I have read just at the right moment. I remember in the training videos that being discussed. Then it happened to me. I show love and grace. I want to be a safe place and do all that I can to provide it. I desire for GOD to use me to help others feel understood and find understanding. I desire for GOD to use me to show grace and teach God's grace. I desire for God to use me to help others to succeed and discover their God given gifts and talents. |
