Instructions | Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions.
Who is Jesus Christ to you? | Jesus is my personal Lord and Savior who died for me and all humanity so that we could live again with Him for eternity.
How does a person become Christian? | Romans 10:9 states that if a person confesses with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and was raised from the dead, then they will be saved.
Describe your beliefs about the Bible: | I believe that the Bible is the living inspired word of God.
Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit: | The Holy Spirit is third person of the trinity of God. He is God's present activity in our midst. He is the living breath of God. Deliverance, tongues, healing, prophecy and being filled with the Spirit are all associated with the Holy Spirit in action.
Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ: | From the moment I was born, my dad was an alcoholic. He battled addiction for the majority of my life. My mom and my dad divorced when I was eight months old. So as a young child, I grew up moving. We moved, it felt like, almost every year for 18 years. But I would travel back and forth between my mother and my father. A very lonely time. But I knew from a very young age that I was called to impact people who had experienced the same challenges. I was very close with my dad. My dad was my best friend, but when I was about sixth grade, he went to jail. And so I had to go live with my grandmother for the remainder of seventh grade. And I remember being bullied in a new school, a new atmosphere, and just feeling just lost during that time. I was reunited with him for a short time. When I was 14, he went to prison and it crushed me. But my dad always had been very real with me and taught me about putting my faith in God. And he always prayed. He put me in a Christian school in kindergarten and we would always go to church. He'd always go up to the front altar and rededicate his life often. I would imagine the life of alcohol and sin that was so near to him. I remember going up to the altar to fill the warmth of the Lord and His secure embrace. At such a young age, I was graced to know the Lord and serve Him. When I was six years old, I was on the job site with my dad and I ran underneath this garage of a commercial building that was being constructed at the time. This large crane above was unloading a large bundle of plywood and when it dropped the bundle onto this garage; the entire ceiling caved in. I had just ran through to the other side seconds prior. Within seconds I would've been crushed and my precious life ended. But the Lord helped me get through that garage and saved my life. When my dad went to prison at the age of 14, I was very, very lonely. I was very lost. I lived with my mom, but we didn't have a close relationship. And so there I found myself looking for love in all the wrong places. That's when I met an older boy who's about three to four years older than me. And it was not a good relationship. It was very toxic. He was addicted to drugs and alcohol. There was a lot of physical abuse. That was my first time experiencing abuse. I actually remember being scared to ask my mom for birth control and my doctor said I had to be 16. Since I was under 16, I had to have a parent signature. So I never got birth control. And then I got pregnant with Brianna and I remember asking my mom for an abortion and she wouldn't agree to it. And so I had her at 17 years old. Thank God my mom didn't agree to it because my daughter is a beautiful young woman.. She's 18 now and she's married and doing awesome things, very intelligent. I left that abusive relationship. So I was a single mom for five years. I attended college and earned a Bachelor's Degree while working 3 jobs simultaneously. You can do anything through Christ who strengthens you. During that time, the Lord really gave me a purpose and a vision for helping youth and women that have experienced similar pasts. The Lord really showed me how he wanted me to impact people and show them how they can persevere through trying times. He really placed that call inside of my life and that's where I discovered it. During those five years of being a single mom, I really discovered my identity and who I was in Him. I was radically set ablaze for the Lord. I had known him growing up, but that was really my place where I really got serious about serving Him. Those years took place in Phoenix, Arizona. During the first night of a class I took called “Cleansing Stream.” I met a man who I was not interested in but seemed friendly at the time. The day that I met him, he said that the Lord told him that I would be his wife. The relationship progressed very quickly. We married within 4 months. So very quick. He was a pastor's kid and a missionary kid. He moved to the mission field when he was five years old. And so he knew the language and culture very well. He was really on a sabbatical in Phoenix when I met him. At the time I didn't know that he was on the sabbatical and getting free from addiction. He was attending the Teen Challenge program and was actually leaving to go back to the mission field the week that I met him. I didn't know any of that information until probably closer to the time that we married. Our first year of marriage, we decided to move to the mission field, which was not a wise decision at all because we were just still getting to know each other, we were still getting to know ourselves. During that first year on the mission field, the Lord used the crushing to recreate who I was. He really took a hold of who I was and the things that were not of him. And it literally felt like just pressure, just cleaning out the things in my heart and my life that were not of him. It was a struggle, it was a challenge. It was just depending on Him for everything. Literally, I could not speak the language at first. I had to depend on people who spoke English to translate for me. We did not have a vehicle to use at our discretion. Most days were scheduled with mission teams coming in on a weekly rotation. There was hardly any downtime. We did not even have a kitchen of our own. The internet was a rarity and electricity was spotty. Bucket baths and cold showers were the norm. I tried everything in me to depend on the Lord and keep a solid relationship with our precious Jesus. It became increasingly difficult. During my processing on the mission field, the Lord was revealing hidden lies, devotions, and idols that I had. The norm of no hot water and spotty electricity was humbling. We had sold everything we owned. We had to follow Him. The Lord was teaching me how to be selfless. And if you're serious about the Lord, you'll do everything in your power to follow Him. So we left Haiti. We really wanted to focus on growing our marriage foundation and expanding our family. We moved an hour north west of the Tampa, Florida area for about three years. God blessed us with our beautiful middle daughter together named Ava. I was working full time and my husband was staying home with her and he was really battling with the addiction. During the process, he even got clean and was surrendering to our God faithfully. He continued to battle the addiction. After three years of being in the States, my husband and I were offered positions to work back down on the mission field, but this time as an increase in pay, we would be paid more than we were making in the States. We prayed and then we felt like a piece about it. So we ended up selling everything we owned again and moving back down to the mission field. We were so excited because we loved working with the youth. We felt called to the youth and down on the mission field, it was a private Christian school and there's a church, a Christian Church on the same property. So we'd get to work with the children and the teenagers, mentoring, encouraging counseling, and just really pouring into them. So we both enjoyed that. We felt like that was where the Lord had called us. And so it was a struggle though. I mean God was really moving, but behind the scenes our marriage was crumbling. He had fell back into addiction again. There was some abuse, emotional, mental, verbal, physical abuse. And on the outside, in this Christian community, everybody thought we had it all together, but really we didn't. It just looked good on the outside, but the Lord was using us to impact other people. And so that was the greatest thing. December of 2018, a friend of ours got baptized and it was just such a refreshing day to see her get baptized over there on the mission field. And my husband had stayed home from church that day due to not feeling well. The same day my husband had an altercation with another person and was unfortunately killed. It was two days until Christmas. It was tragic and so sudden. Our world and what we knew just crumbled in an instant. The children and I moved back to the states. Within a week of that happening, I stayed with a family friend for a few months until we got our own place, but my grandfather actually passed away 30 days after my husband did. And then my dad passed away 90 days after my husband. So it was a little bit of a struggle, a little bit of a challenge, but we have to remember that people don't belong to us. They're a gift from God and they actually belong to him. So he just lets us have them for a little bit of time. After a year off I started working at a Christian business here in town and loved it. It was wonderful. It was a breath of fresh air. And that's when I met my current husband. The Lord said to him that he was going to use him to push me into my calling. And so the awesome part of the testimony was that we didn't even kiss each other until the altar. So we waited a year and a half because we didn't want to fall into sin. I've done that before and we just wanted to remain pure. And so the Lord has really blessed us. We both run a ministry together, but the whole thing through this whole story is that God is still worthy of all that we go through. He still remains faithful and He has our best interests at heart. He works all things together for our good because we're called according to his purpose. And so when you realize that our life is not our own and it belongs to Him, He will get the glory through the story. Jesus is my number #1 reason for being on this earth daily. I make it a point to glorify Him as much as possible. I start each day with worship and reading the Word of God. I know people can see Jesus when they are around me. All the glory belongs to Him.
