Spiritual Orientation and Practice

Instructions

Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions.

Who is Jesus Christ to you?

My Lord and my Savior.

How does a person become Christian?

Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and God raised Him from the dead. Jesus paid the debt I incurred for my sins. Because He rose again, I will.

Describe your beliefs about the Bible:

It is the inerrant Word of God, written by men as inspired by The Holy Spirit. It is the final word. If we disagree, it is I who am wrong!

Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is gifted to me as a seal for the day of redemption. He teaches me, corrects me, comforts me, and never leaves me. It is through His wisdom and direction that I am able to help and serve others.

Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ:

I did not grow up in a Christian home. In fact, if I knew any Christians, I was unaware of it. At 15 years old, I moved in with my grandparents for 18 months with the condition that I attend church. At 16, I was moved to accept Christ; however, there was no follow-up - no discipleship at all. I lived as I had before for 12 years until I had my son. I bought my first Bible and read it. Long story short, Jesus and I got real close, real fast. I sought out solid teaching and good discipleship. I am passionate about discipleship because of my journey. I am still receiving mentoring and discipleship as I seek to mentor and disciple others. My current walk my Lord is crucial to my very existence. It sounds trite but to say that He is my everything is true...He's my God, my King, my very best Friend, my Protector, Provider, my Peace, my Joy, my Glory and the Lifter of my head.

Describe your Life Coaching practice/ministry and how you incorporate biblical principles, as well as spiritual practices and disciplines in your coaching activities (e.g., prayer, the use of Scripture, meditation, worship, solitude, etc.)

My practice is founded on biblical principles. I trained to be an LPC, but when I realized the "ethical" restrictions placed on Christian therapists and requirements that run contrary to my faith, I became a Christian life coach. I use many therapeutic approaches - but all must fall in line with my understanding of Scripture. I use Scripture in virtually all of my sessions because it is the bedrock of how I think and therefore how I coach. I do not verbally pray for clients in their presence as I do not want to set myself up as their spiritual authority (an issue for some) and am happy to have my clients pray as they are comfortable. I encourage the study of Scripture (not just reading it), meditating on Scripture, and prayer routinely.
