Instructions | Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions. |
Who is Jesus Christ to you? | Father, Son & Holy Spirit. He is part of the triune God .Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior! Jesus is the expression of God. As the Son of God he is both agent of creation and mankind's ONLY redeemer. |
How does a person become Christian? | To be saved one must turn away from sin, believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and receive Him as Lord and Savior of your life. First, you must consider your life and then turn away from everything in it that is contrary to what God wants. This turning away from selfishness and toward God is called repentance (Matt: 7:7-10) Second, you must acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the Cross to forgive you of sin. You take Him as your Savior to cleanse you from sin - as the substitute who paid the price due for your sin (Romans 5:9-,10) And third, you must ask Him to be Lord of your life, acknowledging openly and verbally that Jesus is not only your Savior but your Lord (I John 2:23) |
Describe your beliefs about the Bible: | To be saved one must turn away from sin, believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and receive Him as Lord and Savior of your life.
Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit: | Part of the God Head - the third person of the trinity, proceeds from the Father and is worshiped and glorified together with the Father and the Son. He inspired the Scriptures, empowers God's people, and convicts the world "of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" (John 16:8) |
Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ: | The first 10 years of my young life was filled with wonderful memories as a part of a family of six. Then, one day when I was about 10 or so - I saw my dad hurting my mom. That began the breakdown of our family over the next 3-4 years. Ultimately, they divorced as I was turning 15. Us four children supported mom in all the ways we could. It was very difficult until a family friend started visiting us. After a while he suggested we all move in with him and his 3 kids. That was the worse decision mom could have made. Not only had the last 4 years with mom and dad been filled with domestic abuse but the following 6 years would be worse. Daily drinking, fighting, physical abuse, emotional abuse with frequent visits from local police. Enter 20's to 30's Married my high school sweetheart and had a child within the first two years. Also, within this period I was accepted as a Cadet and Auxiliary police officer with Reno PD. I worked extensively. Shannon Marie was born in June 1970 with a hole in the wall of her heart. We were initially alarmed but the doctors said by the age of 5 the hole should close up. As a young family we didn't have solid spiritual roots planted. By our 4th year - we grew apart and divorced. Just before Shannon 5th birthday the doctors suggested surgery as there was not much change in the size of the hole. She was flown to Missouri where pediatric heart surgeons performed a successful surgery. As they were removing the breathing apparatus a certain amount of air went through her system and lodged in her brain.......she died a few days later. The pain of losing a child is grief beyond understanding which never goes a way. I lost my dad unexpectedly in my mid 20's. Then when I was 29 I had a near death experience being buried alive in a construction accident. Just before I passed out from a lack of oxygen I said to the Lord "Is this how i'm going to go?" I have so much more to do! I sustained a broken back and had to learn how to walk all over again. 30's - 40's In my mid to late 30's I was diagnosed with cancer! At the same time I was bankrupt and my wife at that time was leaving me.I have never been as low as during that time in my life. To the point I thought about suicide which scared me. That's when I called out to God! I told him I've tried life with you and with me and totally failed. There had to be a better way of living "would you come into my life and show me how to live life through you. I want a relationship with you Lord. So he met me at my lowest point and drew me to His scriptures. As I began to read the words seem so alive! As if they jumped off the page at me. I felt so grateful to be urged in this way. This is what caused me to kneel and pray every day so I could learn how to pray and hear His voice. Up to this point in my life I didn't have a church family to call upon for support. But now I had joined a bible teaching charismatic church where I experienced how valuable a church family can become. Over the years I have led a number of small groups; took a mission trip to Nairobi & Calabar Nigeria in Africa. In my 60's I had another near death experience as a result of being wrongly diagnosed with a stroke and medicated heavily with nitroglycerin - I coded! But this time, we called on the prayer team and pastor of our church. Prior to this I had blood clots that went to my upper and lower right lung. Rushed to ER just in time - again we called upon our prayer team and others for prayer. No question that God still wants my service to Him to His people. I'm humbled by the calling to Christian Life Coaching and look forward to speaking words prompted by the Holy Spirit into the lives who God sends to me. My wife, Sylvia and I have two daughters and four grandchildren who live in California. |
Describe your Life Coaching practice/ministry and how you incorporate biblical principles, as well as spiritual practices and disciplines in your coaching activities (e.g., prayer, the use of Scripture, meditation, worship, solitude, etc.) | My Life Coaching Ministry is not advertised nor do I gain financially. That has never been the focus since I answered the call that God laid upon my heart. It gives me great fulfillment to be able to pour into others what God has done in my life by taking my messes and turning them into messages. I start my day with first cup of coffee and head off to the local mall to walk. I take my bible and usually the 6 Secrets to a Lasting Love book as well. But, before I do walk, I read God's word, pray and meditate on what He shares with me. It is hours before the Mall opens to the public when I walk. As I do, the Lord and I converse back and forth for quite awhile. It is such a encouraging time. I pray about our couples who are in the marriage study; church leaders & family etc. This past year was full of challenges with starting our first Marriage Group and learning how to present all the information. We learned NOT to start a group like ours at the end of April - July. We held it at the church (Church of The King) beginning at 5pm ending at 6:30pm. Many would miss because of the holidays; Mother's Day followed by Memorial Day then Father's Day, And finally July 4th!!. Both my wife and I spend each week going over the information in the workbook as we follow along with the video. Praying for the couples and their issues. Since we finished the first group July 13th we were looking forward to a break before starting back up mid September for the second Marriage Study which went far better. I felt we had a much better handle on things. And now, after the holidays are over we will be starting our next quarter mid February. About a month from now. So lots of study going over the materials again with a different video with much more content. God's word is absolutely the most valuable part of the study. Because it brings light and credibility to the study itself. This study is an incredible "road map" for any marriage at any age. And pre-marrieds especially because it sheds light on things they may have not even thought about. The main difference in this study - you cannot experience what God intends for your marriage without FIRST being in relationship with Him. Why? Because the Holy Spirit will prompt you how to respond to a disagreement for example with an open heart truly desiring to work things out with your mate. The relationship with our Lord is the one area I like to focus on with the couples to encourage them to pray together. To be intentional in their marriage keeping God's word close to their hearts at all times. This study brings opportunities for discipleship and marriage coaching. The ultimate plan in our church is to build a series of Marriage Champions who will lead marriage groups and be able to pour into them from the study and God's word. Reaching People and Building Lives. |
