Field Experience Description | I have coached alongside my husband, Dave Hix, this past year. We have coached with three couples in strengthening their marriage. I've also coached individually with a few people. These coaching sessions have been by phone only. Prior to this, I worked in a Christian Children's home where I was responsible for meeting with the college aged female student mentors who ministered alongside of us. Not only did I spend time coaching them through life struggles, but also coached them through work issues either related to co-workers and/or the students we both worked with. Our leadership also required a weekly meeting with the students in our care to discuss goals set at last week's meeting. These half hour meetings were set for every week. I have also worked in a crisis pregnancy center as a weekend "house mom". During this season, I spent many hours coaching ladies through the various decisions that needed to be made before and after leaving the group home. |

Instructions | Please define/describe your thoughts and beliefs on the following questions. |
Who is Jesus Christ to you? | Jesus Christ is the risen son of God. Jesus is part of the trinity of God. He chose to sacrifice himself on the cross in my place to satisfy the wrath of God. It is beyond mind-blowing to me how one so perfectly holy and complete would choose to surrender all of it to shed his blood for me. His sacrifice was my salvation. Jesus is my Lord and Savior and the one I choose to follow. |
How does a person become Christian? | The Bible states that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. The Bible also states that if one "confesses with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in your heart that God raised Him form the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." Romans 10:9-10 |
Describe your beliefs about the Bible: | The Bible is the recorded word of God given to various men through many years. It is the story of the love of God for His people and His desire to share himself with people. The wisdom inside is for our growth and sanctification. |
Describe your beliefs about the Holy Spirit: | The Holy spirit is also part of the trinity of God and has been given as a comforter to believers in Jesus. Honestly, I smiled when I read the question because I am so enamored with the change in my life since being baptized in the Holy Spirit a few years back. I had been living the Christian life prior to this event but had no idea the life that awaited me once He further illuminated my eyes, mind and heart. I am more eager for the things of God and compassionate toward all people because of the influence of The Holy Spirit in my life. He has also been a corrector in my life. I have been gently rebuked and can't be more grateful for His working in my life. His leading reminds me that my life is for the glory of God and to honor Jesus. I believe He has been given to believers to lead them to worship, obey and glorify Jesus. |
Briefly describe your personal faith testimony, your spiritual journey, and current walk with Christ: | I grew up in a Christian home and was baptized by my dad at age 12. After years of living the Christian way, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Since that time, my life has been radically enhanced. My thoughts are constantly redirected to Jesus and His desires and ways. I am humbled by the goodness of God in my life. The Holy Spirit is often gently reminding me of His love and His ways. My desire is to walk my faith out in a way that makes others desirous for a relationship with Jesus. Because of the Holy Spirit, I have learned how to love people where they are and trust the Lord to lead me regarding how to interact, coach and help them. He has done so much for me in the past few years especially. It brings tears to my eyes to see how He has softened my heart and held it at the same time. Jesus is the hope of and hope for this world. |
Describe your Life Coaching practice/ministry and how you incorporate biblical principles, as well as spiritual practices and disciplines in your coaching activities (e.g., prayer, the use of Scripture, meditation, worship, solitude, etc.) | As stated earlier, I have had the opportunity to work with both pregnant ladies and vulnerable students. Prayer with them during meetings was always present. We would pray before and most times after meeting together. This was used to asked for direction at the beginning of the meeting and strength to follow Him after the meetings. As far as individual coaching opportunities, I have always referenced Jesus and Biblical ways to handle situations during our coaching sessions. One of the individuals I presently coach has been struggling with Jesus and Biblical ways and feels God has let people down. The Lord has been so kind to offer opportunities to lead this one gently to truth. I believe it is always important to follow scripture when dealing with non-believers or those struggling with their faith, thus I lean heavily on the Spirit for wisdom and choose to show honor, respect, patience, and gentleness when speaking with them. My encouragement is often for them to seek Christ either through journaling, reading and worship as a "homework" response to the coaching session. |
